About This Service

Commercial tile has to answer to two different demands depending on where it sits: a lobby or retail floor is about appearance and durability under continuous foot traffic; a restroom or back-of-house kitchen floor is about slip rating and moisture control, full stop. We spec each area to what it actually needs rather than a single tile choice for the whole building.

Waterproofing membrane is standard in every wet area we tile, not an add-on quoted separately after the fact — restaurant kitchens, restrooms and any floor with a drain get it as part of the base install.

What's Included

  • Substrate prep and crack-isolation membrane where needed
  • Waterproofing membrane in all wet areas as standard
  • Large-format and pattern layouts (herringbone, offset, running bond)
  • Slip-rated tile options for kitchens, restrooms and entries
  • Laser-level installation for minimal lippage on large-format tile
  • Grout selection and sealing for commercial cleaning chemicals

FAQ

Commercial Tile Installation Questions, Answered

Most codes and insurers expect a higher dynamic coefficient of friction (DCOF) rating in wet areas than a standard glazed tile provides. We spec slip-rated tile for restrooms, entries and kitchens as a default, not an upgrade.

Sometimes — it depends on the existing substrate's flatness, moisture condition and whether it's a suitable tile base. We'll confirm during the site walk before pricing rather than assume either way.

Typically 24–72 hours depending on grout and sealant cure time, and longer before heavy equipment or rolling carts should cross it. We give an exact schedule with the bid.
